    I'm thinking of making a waterproof small shaving kit for our boat. I have left over canvas fabric and a yard of cork to play with. Would you use a teflon foot? Do you think it would be too bulky? Should i just increase by an inch?

    • @ChrisLucasDesigns

      It could get a bit too bulky in the French seams but hey… have a bit of fun and experiment. They don’t use up too much material.

    • @ChrisLucasDesigns
      @ChrisLucasDesigns 9 дней назад

      Sure can be… just add more to the width and to the height eg add 2” or 3” or what ever you like to the width and/or height and you can increase the size for the corner boxes you cut eg cut them 1” instead of 3/4”. Just have fun and experiment 😃

    This was a great tutorial .i never thought of doing french seams. I love your technique! Btw, doing you think reducing the lining by 1/4 " all around, would give the interior a smoother fit?

    • @ChrisLucasDesigns
      @ChrisLucasDesigns 14 дней назад

      @@denisehosner3405 thanks 💕 and for this technique it’s best to keep the lining and the exterior the same size otherwise your corners and seams won’t line up to become French seams. You’ll find the lining has a smooth fit as there’s no bulk from thick interfacings and having the all the raw edges lining up exactly the same. Hope that makes sense xx

      Yes, the top stitching is done after completing the bag. When I need a little extra space like a free arm machine I just I just prop the machine up on some large books 📚 or you can let your machine sit a little over the edge of your table so you can use it like a free arm machine… crazy I know but it works 😃
